Chestnut Flour

This flour is made from freeze-dried chestnuts and has an intense fresh chestnut flavour and as it's made using peeled chestnuts there is no contamination from the inner skin of the chestnut that so often appears in other chestnut flours. Chestnut flour is gluten free - great news for coeliacs. It can be used in place of plain flour but is usually used in conjunction with other flours as it is very dense. It is lovely used as a thickener for gravy or to add flavour and texture to cakes or puddings. We use it in making our Chestnut Fruit Cake.
